"Connecting people with their natural environment improves physical health and sense of wellbeing, reduces stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression whilst also boosting the immune system and reducing the risk of chronic illnesses."

Welcome to Social Circles.
Social Circles CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise that reclaims gardens for those unable to do so because of age, ability or circumstances, allowing them to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of being outdoors with nature in the safety and security of their own homes.
The Benefits of being outdoors
These now widely accepted health benefits include:
Gentle physical exercise,
Reduced stress, fatigue, anxiety and depression
Prevention of the onset of mental health conditions
Healthier immune system and reduced risk of chronic illnesses
People tell us that we have given them space to breath, to escape, to relax and to heal, and that they again feel more connected to friends, neighbours and to their community which helps to reduce the sense of isolation and loneliness.
Overgrown gardens are a ‘flag’ that someone may be struggling and need a helping hand.
It doesn’t take long for a garden to become overgrown and the reasons for losing control are many and varied, but we have found that generally it is because of age related physical decline or sudden injury, onset of a medical or mental health condition, or significant events such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown.
Whatever the reason, we give people back their garden space and, if necessary, we support with Pathways to connect people with nature and to others to ensure the health and wellbeing benefits are fully achieved.
We also work closely with other community support organisations to provide a more holistic wellbeing service. If beneficial, we may signpost or refer people, with their permission, to other activity such as benefit or debt advice, funding for home adaptations, group activities and other support as necessary to make their lives happier and healthier.
“The day after you cleared the garden, my daughter walked down to the bottom of the garden at sunrise and started mimicking the bird calls. She came back with a story of what was happening with the birds. She didn't say it, but I can tell that she loves it 😊”

With inflation running at 10% at the end of 2022 those on low incomes and benefits are still being punished by the Poverty Premium, the extra costs people on low incomes and in financial distress pay for essential products and services.
With the help of grants from some local organisations we are able to help those who are going through difficult financial times.
